How To Choose A Suitable Jib Crane For Your Industry?
A jib crane has an arm/jib attached to a support and is used for the task where repetative lifting is required. They are very helpful in shifting objects from one place to another in a quick and effective manner as they can move in a circular manner having a tendency to move around 360 degrees. Jib cranes are manufactured by most of the industrial crane manufacturers in India as these cranes are utilized in industries and workshops dealing with medium loads.
Types of Jib Cranes:
There are many types of jib cranes available in the market that are manufactured by Goods Lift Manufacturers but three main types are commonly used that are floor mounted jib cranes, wall-mounted jib cranes, and articulating jib cranes. These jib cranes are installed depending on the space availability, type of load, and location.
Floor mounted jib crane has a tendency to raotate 360 degrees capable of covering large areas. Examples of these cranes include freestanding jib cranes and mast-style jib cranes. The freestanding crane system is expensive as it has the capacity to move heavy loads. Floor-mounted jib cranes are best suited for usage where more floor space is available as they rotate 360 degrees.
As the name suggests wall mounted jib cranes are attached to the walls, they are best suited for the place where there is limited floor space. They can rotate up to 200 degrees and can easily move loads up to 5 tons. Due to their compact size, they can be utilized in a crowded place. Cantilever and tie rod support are the two types of wall-mounted jib cranes.
Articulating jib cranes are special jib cranes, they have a pivot point along the jib arms. Their movement is more accurate and reachable to the place where other jib cranes finder harder to move thus saving time and effort.
A Suitable Jib Crane For Your Industry?
There are various factors involved in choosing a suitable jib crane for your industry, it may be operating costs, loads, facility layout, power source, ease of installation, types of load. So it is necessary to study in detail in choosing a suitable jib crane considering long-term operation and economical.
• Height
The height is a major factor to install a jib crane as it determines the overall space required for the installation and operation. The height below the boom and the height of the crane should be considered. So look for the specification of the jib crane.
• Jib room rotation
Freestanding jib cranes are capable of 360-degree rotation whereas wall-mounted jib cranes are capable of 180-degree rotation. The boom outreach also should be considered.
• Capacity
The maximum load the jib arm can carry is the capacity of the jib crane. It must be ensured that the jib crane should not be operated with a load greater than the permitted load in order to avoid failure and damages.
• Power source
Cranes do require high electric power to operate as they deal with heavy loads. The question is how much power does your jib crane demand and the power is for rotation, trolley, hoist, or all three?
• Working span
It is the measurement of the distance of movement of a hook from one end to another end of the jib arm.
• Ease of installation
Ease of installation is one of the most important factors in selecting a jib crane. Freestanding jib cranes need a concrete base for installation whereas wall-mounted jib cranes are attached to steel columns.
• Weatherization
Weatherization is a part of the maintenance which involves protecting it from external factors like rust, sunlight, precipitation, etc. Sometimes crane service providers may prefer shifting the jib crane to other places for maintenance
